Before marching in Chicago's Pride Parade, Commissioner Brady-Davis joined advocates and elected officials as Governor Pritzker signed three landmark pro-LGBTQ+ bills into law. As one of the nation's only Black transgender women elected officials, she remains committed to ensuring representation is matched by meaningful public policy.
The Commissioner joined neighbors at the Hyde Park Fourth of July Parade, then helped kick off MWRD's America250 Tree Planting Initiative — a yearlong effort to plant 250 oak trees across MWRD properties that will improve water quality and expand the tree canopy.
As heavy rainfall becomes more frequent across Cook County, Commissioner Brady-Davis launched a series of Rainstorm Ready Workshops with local aldermen, connecting residents directly with MWRD engineers to talk through neighborhood flooding patterns and home protection.
Following historic rainfall across Cook County, MWRD's Thornton Composite Reservoir reached a record 94% capacity, temporarily storing more than 7 billion gallons of stormwater to help protect communities from more widespread flooding.
Commissioner Brady-Davis continues to champion the West LeMoyne Stormwater Detention Project, the first underground stormwater storage system of its kind on Chicago's West Side, designed to capture millions of gallons during heavy rain events.
This summer, Commissioner Brady-Davis traveled to New York City to deliver the keynote address at the DNC's Annual LGBTQ+ Gala, challenging attendees to build communities where clean water, affordability, and opportunity are accessible to everyone, regardless of ZIP code.
The office of Commissioner Brady-Davis is now accepting applications for a paid Community Outreach & Public Relations Internship, offering students hands-on experience in communications, community engagement, research, and public events.
Commissioner Brady-Davis and her family are mourning the loss of her beloved father-in-law, Dr. Arnell "Grady" Brady, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, speech-language pathologist, and lifelong advocate for young people.
