PRECIOUS BRADY-DAVIS

progressive leader in social justice, environmental advocacy, and strategic communications.

Precious Brady-Davis, a Nebraska native, is a trailblazer in public service and advocacy. In November 2024, she was elected to an incomplete two-year term as Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, after being appointed to the role by Governor JB Pritzker in July 2023. She made history as the first openly Black transgender woman elected to public office in Cook County.

She also serves as Chief Strategy Officer at the Center on Halsted, where she began her career over a decade ago as Youth Outreach Coordinator, launching a $1.6 million CDC grant for HIV prevention and LGBTQ leadership development. Her return to the Center underscores her deep commitment to advancing equity and fostering inclusive communities.

Previously, Precious held leadership roles at Columbia College Chicago as Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment Initiatives, where she implemented campus-wide diversity policies, and at the Sierra Club, where she spent six years leading communications strategies for climate justice campaigns. Her efforts have driven renewable energy adoption, protected Oklahoma’s water supply, and held corporate and government leaders accountable, including former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

A published author and keynote speaker, Precious inspires others through her memoir, I Have Always Been Me, and her unyielding dedication to justice, sustainability, and leadership.
